Talladega Funeral Home, which was originally founded by William and Hazel Patterson, who also owned Talladega Healthcare Center at that time, held its open house on September 16, 1979. Built on the site of the old Confederate Army Training Grounds, construction began in early 1978. The ad that ran in early September of 1979 in The Daily Home, the local newspaper in Talladega, called our facilities the "newest and most modern". Dedication took place at 2:30 pm, and open house lasted until 5:30 pm. The article listed a few facts that one should know about the facility. A few of the things listed include "No set hours of operation and no official closing time" and "modern motor equipment necessary for full service." Today we still strive to offer the same values that the company was founded on.
Although many people did not believe Talladega needed another
funeral home in the area, after a tough first five years or so,
Talladega Funeral Home finally got up and running. The first
funeral conducted by Talladega Funeral Home was on October 6,
1979. In honor of this, we still have a large portrait and
plaque of the late Ms. Stephans hanging in our arrangement office
to commemorate this memorable occasion. Although, Mrs. Hazel
Patterson passed away about 15 years ago, William P. Patterson is
still very active around the funeral home. He works
occasional funerals and even does maintenance work around the
facilities. Although, Talladega Funeral Home has been
in business now for 40 years, one will still find the same
atmosphere that the company was originally centered around.
Here at Talladega Funeral Home, we want you to feel welcome and in
a comfortable atmosphere, and you will find people that can be
counted on as friends.
