Funeral Services for Jonathan Smith, 42 of Alpine, will be Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 1 pm at Talladega Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Midway Memory Gardens. The family will be receiving friends tonight from 6 to 8 pm at Talladega Funeral Home. Jon passed away Thursday morning at Coosa Valley Medical Center after a short battle with cancer. Jon is survived by his wife Teresa George Smith, his daughter Dawn George, his son Will George, his mother Ruth Smith, three sisters Jenny Youngblood and husband Dwayne, Suzy Isbell and husband Anthony, and Deborah Stone, two brothers Bobby George, and Melvin “Bubba” George, two nieces Melinda Sparks and husband Brady, and Devon Youngblood, two great-nephews Dylan and Brayden Sparks, and special aunt Kitty Owings. He is preceded in death by his father, Douglas Wren Smith, Sr. Jon graduated from Winterboro High School in the class of 1988. He loved his family and his dogs, and will be missed very much.
